This is one of my favorite shows of the year. Easy setup in a beautiful park setting and lots of enthusiastic patrons come to buy art. The park had been under construction the past few years and booth placements were a bit scattered. They seemed to have finished construction and solved the problems with booth placements. This years layout was much more organized and artist friendly.
This is one of most artist friendly shows we do with lots of amenities including breakfast both days, award dinner Saturday night, a very helpful staff and $25,000.00 in awards.
Setup is the day before, very well organized and most spaces you can pull very close to your booth for unloading. The weather was perfect all three days and the crowds came out to walk the show.
We sold three small pieces and ended up with a below average show. Although our average show numbers have slipped greatly this year. I spoke with three photographers, one reported slightly above average sales and was helped greatly by one large sale that accounted for almost half his total for the weekend, one an average show and the third way below and will not return. A ceramic artist reported slightly above average sales. I spoke with a painter that said he was shut out for the weekend with no sales. I spoke with two jewelers both reported above average sales for their weekend. A wood worker reported an average sales total. Two potters both reported above average sales totals, a sculptor reported a well above average show and almost sold his entire inventory and a pencil artist reported about an average show.
Breakdown here is going to depend heavily on where your booth is and what type of vehicle you have. Most artists can pull very close to their booth if not right next to their booth to load up. I have a huge trailer so decided to go out to dinner first and come back later. Was able to park next to the booth and load right in.
