Be prepared for the experience of your life. These people really know how to make you feel special! Loads of extra perks!
Set-up is the day before, bring a really good dolly or if you are lucky you can use one of their dollies. They can be hard to find. You park out on the curb and dolly down very wide but long sidewalks. The show is in an area with lots of upscale shops, restaurants and movie theaters. There is plenty of free parking for artists, not much room for storage depending on where your booth is.
If you are lucky enough to a spot in the main area you can do well here. There is still one area off to an extreme corner that gets very little traffic. If your booth is here, quite honestly, don’t bother coming unless you just need a vacation. Artists I spoke with here said they only got about 10% of the traffic the rest of the show receives and sales were mostly shut out completely to didn’t make expenses!
We had done this show two years ago and did very well here with a well above average show. This year we had lots of lookers, sales were down for us about 60% to put this at a below average show. I spoke with three photographers, one reported above average sales, one slightly below average and one way below average. A metal artist reported above average sales. Two jewelers I spoke with had above average sales, one painter reported slightly below average sales. A wood artist, a clay artist, a graphic artist and a mixed media artist all reported below average sales, two said they would try again, two will not be back.
Breakdown is a bit hectic, there are crowds of people to dolly around but everything seemed to go smoothly. Get here early on Sunday and find a parking space up close and just dolly to your space without moving.
Treatment of artists here is top notch but this is not one of our favorite shows to do. There are crowds here but a good number of them are not here for the art show. Traffic can be really bad, lines for restaurants are long, it’s very trying on your patients. We’ll try again at least one more time, this is a show we have to gear up for, not one we’ll really be looking forward to.
