This is one of the premier high end art shows in Florida with approximately 1000 applications for 280 spaces. It’s one of the toughest shows to get accepted into. The park is right next to the water with beautiful surroundings and, this year, a cool breeze. Set-up is the day before from 1-6 pm or Saturday morning early. Most choose to set-up on Friday and you can pull right next to your booth for unloading but be prepared for a little fancy maneuvering around booths and others. There is also parking close by on the street if you prefer to forgo the maneuvering and choose to dolly.
This year the weather was perfect both days with lots of sun and temps in the upper 70’s. We sold a total of five pieces at this show with an average ticket of just over $1200.00, for us a slightly above average show. We did this show 3 years ago when it was in a different location just down the street. Sales were down from three years ago but still we were happy with an above average show. I spoke with about 15 different artists here and all but three were very happy. One photographer reported sales of $13,000.00 said it was their best show ever. Two other photographers reported having slightly above average shows. A pencil artist reported having an above average show. A bronze sculptor reported having a well above average show. Two painters and a potter also reported above average sales. The three artists reporting slow sales were a jeweler selling very high end work, a mixed media artist selling medium priced work and an acrylic sculptor selling medium to high end work. All but the mixed media artist said they would return next year.
We figured loading out here would be very hectic so we packed our pieces into boxes, zipped the sides down and went out to dinner. We returned about 7:30 pm to find 2/3rds of the artists were gone. At that point it was very easy to pull right next to our booth for loading up.
This is a very well run, organized show with friendly staff and an awards breakfast Sunday morning. It’s in a great location with 12x12 spaces so hanging on one outside wall is possible. There’s a reason why this show gets so many applications!
