January 22-23, 2nd Annual Pinecrest gARTens Fine art Festival. Contact: Domino Ireland, Pinecrest Gardens Village, 11000 SW 57 Ave, Pinecrest, Fl. 33156, 305-669-6942 email: Ireland@pinecrest-fl.gov $5.00 admission fee.
This show is located in one of the most beautiful settings you will ever find for an art show. Huge Banyan trees, fountains, flowers and wildlife. Pinecrest Gardens is the old Parrot Jungle in the very wealthy area of Miami, just around the corner from Coconut Grove. The show is produced by the City of Pinecrest and run by one of the most hands on directors you will ever meet, Domino Ireland. This was the second year for the show, there were a total of 35 high end fine artists. This show is geared to attract only high end buyers. “We don’t wants crowds of people strolling the show and not buying, we want only a few thousand high end buyers to come spend their money on some really fine art. This way they have a place to park close by and do not have to fight crowds to get into booths and speak with artists,” said Ireland. “We only have space for 50 artists so the show will never get any larger than that” he added.
There is Thursday or Friday set-up here and you’re welcome to leave your booth set-up Sunday night and come back Monday for tear down. The park is fenced in and locked down at night. You are warned not to leave food in your booth overnight because of the many wild animals that roam freely and call the park home. Now there’s something you don’t see in your average shows information!
I would estimate this years attendance between 4000-5000 with a good majority of them being people that actually buy expensive artwork. We only had one sale all weekend but the couple bought 4 really good size pieces and made our show. We had a few others that might pan out later but this was an average show for us with only the one sale. There were a few artists I spoke with that did not sell anything and others reported doing well. Most artists I spoke with said they did plan on returning next year with the exception of two that did not sell a thing. Jewelry, painting, wood and photography all reported average to above average sales. This is a show to leave your prints at home and bring your originals. You’re not going to make a lot of sales here but the ones you do make will be worth the wait.
